Just what is all the hype about ‘Evening of Inspiration”

written by Janet Harrold

An “Evening of Inspiration” is our most sought after and most creative event of the year. This year it will take place on October 27th, 28th and 29th

An evening that is full of demonstrations and entertainment by our talented staff. An evening that you will be talking about long after the night is over. An evening that is sure to knock your socks off! Each year is different, you never  know what to expect but the one thing you can always count on is that you will be WOWED. Come by yourself or come with a friend, most prefer to come as a group, either way it is guaranteed to be a night filled with laughter and inspiration.  Below are a few images of highlights from our past events.

Tajah’s “Book Club” centerpiece featured cranberries and glass cylinders covered in book pages and lit with battery operated candles…

Red cabbage, kale, thistle, and an airplant are among the unusual components of Lisa’s fascinating arrangement.

Richard’s “New Years Finale” was pure delight as he showed the crowd how to make an affordable all white tablescape, incorporating glassware from your cabinets at home and inexpensive and traditional flowers such as babies breath, carnations and tulips. He dressed up the vessels with a  band of bling and glitz and those expensive looking candles are actually styrofoam balls that he etched out and added tea lights for a wintery effect. Brilliant!

Bob and John demonstrated  how to decorate a column with faux evergreens and pine cones. They also surprised and excited the crowd when they showed them how easy it was to transform their existing containers and window boxes from fall to winter.

Sumptuous food from Gourmet Catering, intoxicating wine selections from Espri Du Vin  and devine demonstrations from our creative and talented staff is the perfect combination  for a truly inspirational evening!

R.S.V.P.  (617.825.8582 ) is necessary for this event.  See you there!

That Old September Feeling

16 Sep

written by Janet Harrold

I have to admit it, I absolutely despise the fact that we have to bid adieu to the phenomenal great summer weather and the colorful gardenscapes that I have seen throughout the city this year-but when September rolls in and the crispy autumn air is ubiquitous in the early morning, I know without a doubt it is time for cozy sweaters, spiced lattes,  homemade apple pie and everything pumpkin flavored!

Working at Cedar Grove Gardens all these years, fall has become my favorite season. The garden center is full of autumnal colors and textures. Mum plants, crimson colored  grasses, ornamental kale, gourds,  and pumpkins of all sizes and colors. I especially love when we get that rare shipment of white and green pumpkins.  We absolutely love adding these fall elements to our container gardens or to a grapevine wreath that will welcome your guest at the front door when they come to visit.

September also means that our annual Harvest Festival is just around the corner. This year it will be on Sunday October 26th,  a date you will want to save for sure. Our Harvest Festival brings so much joy to the little ones in our neighborhood as they have a chance to boast their favorite costumes (I wonder how many Disney Princesses  or Olaf costumes we will see this year). Pinata’s filled with candy  and coins are always a delight, but the big attraction is the horse drawn wagon ride through the brilliant fall foliage and fallen leaves over at Cedar Grove Cemetery.

So you see, September is not all that bad, it is the doorway to the best season of all.
