What to do with your poinsettia after the holiday is over? As many of us have come to realize, it’s not an easy task to keep your poinsettia and try to get it to re bloom next Christmas. More often than not the end is result is the same…we toss it out and buy a new one the following year. This year Cedar Grove Gardens wants to give you a gift after the holiday’s. We have set up a poinsettia exchange program here at the shop. It’s very easy and hassle free, judgement free (it doesn’t matter if it’s dead or alive) in fact, you didn’t even have to purchase your poinsettia here to take advantage of the exchange program. When you bring in your unwanted poinsettia, in return we will give you a 4″ colorful primrose! Offer is only good during the week of January 17-January 23rd 1 plant per person.

A glance around the shop
Fall Goodies…of course most people typically recognize our flower shop as selling fabulous fresh flowers for all occasions, weddings, birthdays, sympathy, graduations, Valentine’s Day…just about any occasion that you can think of. We are also known for our garden center, maybe you’ve stopped by to buy your Christmas tree or maybe you purchase plants and vegetables for your out door garden, but what most people don’t realize is that we also have a unique gift shop inside. We have Jade lamps and faux taxidermy items and things that would be known as items a bit off of the beaten path, we also carry ordinary things such as candles, cards picture frames and stationary. Currently the shop is filled with seasonal accents as we celebrate fall and prepare for the upcoming holiday season. Stop in to browse our selection of autumn wreaths and tabletop accents, our selection of high quality faux autumn branches and hand shelled gourds are just a few things that our gift shop has to offer. So if you are in the neighborhood, stop by our little hidden gem and be delighted by all of our fabulous treasures.

It’s so awesome to have a neighborhood historic Country Club right around the corner from the shop that features a formal ballroom, several function rooms and a beautiful ivy covered veranda. In case you couldn’t guess, i’m talking about the Milton Hoosic. Love was definitely in the air on August 8th when the wonderful Brea McDonald captured the true essence of the veranda in most of the photograph’s featured here. We were honored to do the flowers for such an adorable couple and be a part of their special day.

Real Weddings Mountain View Grand Twin Mountain
written by Janet Harrold
We were obviously excited and honored to design flowers for Melissa & Greg’s wedding this summer, but when we learned that the wedding was going to be held in the White Mountains we were just elated and embraced the opportunity to get out of the city and inhale the intoxicating views that were completely breathtaking The ceremony took place at the historic Saint Patrick’s Church that was built of stones and the reception was at the Mountain View Grand Hotel. Nestled in the White Mountains this historic hotel id the height of New Hampshire elegance.
Thank you to Mark R Ducharme for the awesome photos
Terrariums
Terrariums…one of the hottest trends in indoor plants. A collection of miniature plants grown together in a glass container such as a cloche, jar or bottle…if you love plants but hate taking care of them a terrarium is the way to go! Once established a closed terrarium can sustain itself. Inside a terrarium acts like a continuous rain forest- moisture evaporates from the soil and plant leaves and condenses on the terrarium’s roof and walls, it then drops down and re-moistens the soil.
Terrariums can be designed in a variety of ways…you can use sand or soil, moisture loving plants are ideal… we often use fern plants and succulents. A great way to personalize or add a bit of whimsy is to add a clever surprise inside or a tiny figurine on a piece of driftwood. The possibilities are endless!
Cedar Grove Gardens offers terrariums for sale or by custom order. Stop by the shop today at 911 Adams St. Dorchester, Ma. 02124 or Contact us to find out more information about our custom options by calling 617 825 8582 .
